The validity of this research was content validity and to ensure the reliability I used test-retest method and the result was consulted with the formula of product-moment. The data collecting method of this research were documentation and test. The respondent of this research was eleventh grade students of SMA N 1 Ungaran. I used experimental approach for this research which design was static group comparison. The objective of this research was to describe the effectiveness of illustration book as teaching material in learning French for eleventh grade student of SMA N 1 Ungaran. This media is a product resulting from the development of research produced by Mugiharto (2013). On of the media can be used as a tool of learning is an illustration book. One of the efforts to improve student’s learning results is by using proper media in learning French, one of them is illustration book media as teaching material. ![]() Reading is taught by giving the written text fotocopy with the global explanation. Based on the preliminary studies at eleventh grade of SMA N I Ungaran, data showed that teaching loud reading skills is more prominent than comprehensive reading skill. In learning French, reading is one of language skills teached in high school.
